Americans begin their worldwide apology tour for even nominating Donald Trump

In his over an hour long speech, the NY billionaire spoke about Clinton’s legacy of “death, destruction, terrorism and weakness” as the secretary of state and highlighted perceived failings of President Barack Obama’s administration.

Americans weren’t the only ones closely watching as Donald Trump officially took the mantle of the Republican Party Thursday night; the world had its eyes on Cleveland as well.

Ted Cruz says he won’t vote for Hillary Clinton, but he’s not promising to endorse Donald Trump, “like a servile puppy dog”. “Hillary is going to talk to the whole country”.

The former Apprentice host is expected to stress that he is “your voice” and that while Clinton’s slogan is “I’m With Her”, he will choose to recite a different pledge: “I’m With You – the American People”. It was a suggestion Trump first floated during their heated primary battle – one that cause Cruz to explode in anger at the real-estate mogul at the time.

At 75 minutes long, Trump’s acceptance speech is the longest nomination speech since Bill Clinton clocked in at 64 minutes in 1996, according to CSPAN.

Remember: Trump and his campaign agreed to let Cruz speak at the convention even if he didn’t endorse the nominee.

“I have a message to every last person threatening the peace on our streets and the safety of our police: When I take the oath of office next year, I will restore law and order to our country”, Trump said.

But afterward, Gonzalez said he realized that Trump might be able to win without the backing of traditional conservatives.

He said to keep the United States safe, it needed to keep its borders secure.

Cruz reiterated to Texas Republicans that he is still upset about personal insults from the Trump campaign about the senator’s wife and his father. “Cutting off all trade with China because they don’t want to do it our way – that’s a pretty big promise”.

There’s not a single mention of the words “illegal” or “undocumented” in Romney’s entire speech – just four years ago – when America’s unauthorized immigration population had begun to level off.

There was also a speech from PayPal cofounder Peter Thiel, who became the first delegate to reference his sexuality in an address at a Republican convention. “This morning and going forward I don’t intend to”, said Cruz.

But Mrs Clinton was dismissive of Mr Trump’s speech tweeting: “We can do better than this”.

Illegal immigrants, Trump said, “are being released by the tens of thousands into our communities”, where he said they were straining resources, taking jobs away from American citizens and in some cases, committing crimes.
