Americans begin voting in Super Tuesday primaries
Sanders, a senator from Vermont, won in New Hampshire. The term Super Tuesday is relatively new, actually-it was first used in 1980, according to Minnesota Public Radio, but didn’t really become a thing until 1988.

Today is the single biggest day of voting in the presidential race until November’s general election. Brady has challengers from the right in a four-way primary, and may be forced into a runoff May 24 if no one wins a majority Tuesday.
What’s Super Tuesday? It’s a day like no other in the election season. “If she hasn’t straightened it out by now, she’s not going to straighten it out in the next four years”.
In Alabama, Democrats have 60 total delegates.
Super Tuesday is one of the biggest milestones in a USA election year.
Which states will be voting?
With an eye on Florida’s March 15 primary, Rubio vowed to keep up efforts to “unmask the true nature of the front-runner in this race”.
On the Democratic side, meanwhile, voters in 8 of 9 primary states were more likely to want a continuation of President Barack Obama’s policies than a shift in a more liberal direction, as advocated by Sanders. Democrats alone will caucus in Colorado, while only Republicans will caucus in Alaska.
Super PACs supporting all candidates combined, including Rubio, spent $8.8 million in those states during that period. Colorado Republicans have opted to vote for the delegates who will represent them at the Republican National Convention in July.
Almost 600 Republican delegates are up for grabs Tuesday, nearly half the 1,237 needed to secure the nomination.
In the GOP primary at both the district and statewide levels, any candidate getting a majority of the vote in a district or statewide gets ALL of the delegates in that district or statewide.
The Republican party started off with a crowded field of candidates this year. In Texas, about 3 in 10 Democratic primary voters were Hispanic and a little less than 2 in 10 were black.
Both the GOP and the Democrats have a threshold for candidates to qualify for receiving delegates (20% GOP; 15% Dems). Both parties are also picking nominees for a new Texas railroad commissioner to oversee the state’s oil and gas industry.
Georgia’s Democrats turned out overwhelmingly for Hillary Clinton on Tuesday, according to preliminary results of exit polls conducted by Edison Research for the Associated Press and television networks.
Hillary Clinton claimed Super Tuesday victories in the Georgia and Virginia Democratic primaries, while rival Bernie Sanders carried his home state of Vermont. Republican presidential candidate and Ohio Gov. John Kasich hit the trail for Georgia as supporters were casting their ballots in the Nevada caucuses last month. Republican races in those states were too close to call as polls closed.
Let’s look at a couple of scenarios. Ted Cruz has the best chance of beating Trump.
On the Republican side, 4 in 10 of Trump’s voters in the nine states said “telling it like it is” was the most important quality in a candidate, and a third said they were looking for a candidate to bring about change. The pressure is on for Cruz, Rubio and Kasich to come out on top in their home states, where a potential loss could go as far as costing them their campaign.
In addition, GOP rules state that three Republican National Committee members also will serve as delegates from Alabama. This means that a registered voter in these states, regardless of their party registration, can cast their ballot for a candidate in either party.
Another longtime congressional fixture form Houston, Democrat Gene Green, also is facing a potentially stiff primary challenge from former Harris County Sheriff Adrian Garcia.
