Amid death threats, Kaepernick says he’ll donate $1 million to charity

Granted, I don’t want that to happen.

And now Kaepernick is opening more about the protest, and even reporting that he’s getting death threats because of it. I think, again, he’s shedding light on a situation that is heinous and shouldn’t happen in this country.

The revelation was made by Kaepernick when he was discussing the shooting death of an African American man by a police officer in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

The 49ers’ backup quarterback became a polarizing figure when his protest became public following a preseason game against the Packers on August 26, when he sat on the bench during the national anthem in protest of racial oppression and police brutality. People want to take everything back to the flag but that’s not what we’re talking about.

The 28-year-old says he is protesting racial inequality and injustice in America, including the actions of law enforcement towards minorities.

Kaepernick should protest somewhere else at his own time and not in my paid time to watch a sport. He added a little more about the progress on that front Tuesday, saying he intends to donate $100,000 per week over the next 10 weeks to the organizations he chooses to work with.

Press Democrat columnist Lowell Cohn is one of the very worst sportswriters in the business-he’s the dude who once compared PED users to murderers-so it’s no surprise that he has a problem with Colin Kaepernick.

In addition to his donation, Kaepernick will also launch a website that includes how the money is spent. “To make sure not only that I’m transparent in what I’m doing but that these organizations are transparent with where the money is going as well”. In early September, Kaepernick said he meant to make a total donation of $1 million. I did not come to the stadium to watch a protest. He pointed to athletes at all levels of sports and in other sports as joining the cause and singled out New England Patriots defensive end Chris Long for expressing his thoughts recently.

“To me, this is bigger than football, and it would be selfish on my part to look the other way”, he said. I have to help these communities. I think he’s managed it really well.
