Amid ‘Star Wars’ secrecy, new cast members describe their characters

Harrison Ford, Mark Hammill and Carrie Fisher are reprising their roles of Han Solo, Luke Skywalker and Princess Leia is the new release.

At the iconic TCL Chinese Theatre where the first “Star Wars” premiered in 1977, fans are already camped out, eagerly awaiting their turn when the film opens for regular folks next Friday.

Abrams revealed that he was shooting one scene for the film with IMAX cameras earlier past year, which had us pretty excited at the prospect of seeing a new Star Wars movie on the big-big screen, though it’s not proving to be as easy as we’d hoped. Featuring interviews with director J.J. Abrams and the cast, including Harrison Ford, Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Gwendoline Christie and Adam Driver, they all talk about what a huge difference the format makes.

“When I first got cast, no one could know, so it’s three months of me going “alright I can deal with this, this is me”, she said.

“And then she meets Finn and they go on this incredible adventure”.

“He’s a bit reckless, he has a problem with authority and he’s eager to prove himself as a leader”.

“There’s something familiar about his costume that seems to be an homage to Darth Vader, but how he behaves is maybe more unrefined and less in control than probably what people associate with the dark side, I’d say”.
