Obama’s visit started on a high note, with the U.S and China consummating their unlikely partnership on climate change by announcing they were both entering the global emissions-cutting deal reached a year ago in Paris.

China is willing to work with France to deepen pragmatic cooperation in various areas, enhance people-to-people exchanges and strengthen communication and coordination in global affairs, he said.

Obama’s National Security Advisor Susan Rice was also involved in an argument with a Chinese official who stopped her from crossing a media rope as she made her way to the US motorcade.

Russian Federation did not oppose the Turkish military operation in northern Syria that cleared DAESH from our neighboring border areas.

At his own news conference at the end of the summit, Putin declined to discuss the details of a Syria deal, but said the talks were on the “right track” and expressed hope that an agreement could be reached shortly despite earlier disagreements.

US President Obama says an agreement with Russian Federation on ending the violence in Syria is being hampered by “gaps of trust” between the two governments.

Obama said he and Putin instructed their deputies “to keep working at it over the next several days”.

Mr. Obama called the discussion on Syria “productive” about what a real cessation of hostilities would actually look like.

The failure of the last truce is apparently weighing heavily on President Obama and US officials, who are skeptical that Russian Federation will stick to the terms of any deal – specifically, that the Kremlin will actually use its influence to pressure Syrian president Bashar al-Assad to stop waging attacks the moderate opposition forces who are backed by the USA coalition forces. The official, speaking on condition of anonymity, said the United States has been focused on making sure that the agreement allows for a “period of calm so that we can get urgently needed humanitarian assistance to populations that are in need”. “We are in an effort to take this step”, he said, referring to an alliance of Western and regional armies claiming to fight the Daesh Takfiri group in Syria.

Obama was slated to leave China Monday evening, after a closing press conference.
