Separatist leadership on Sunday refused to meet the all-party delegation from Delhi, delivering a blow to efforts to bring all stakeholders on board for peace talks in Kashmir.

“I am confident situation in Jammu and Kashmir will improve”, said Home Minister Rajnath Singh.

The Union Home Minister said that Government is already working on the alternatives to pellet guns such as PAVA shells.

During his hour-long interaction with the delegation, Omar recalled the previous all-party delegation visits since 1990 to Kashmir and said that “unfortunately when things cool down, there is no progress on the issue”.

“We are willing to talk. They (the separatists) don’t even believe in jamhooriyat”.

“We are boycotting the meeting with all-party delegation here today as it is merely an eye wash to show (that) nationalists (are) being taken onboard while they are begging before separatists in Kashmir for at least opening their doors to the delegation members”, he said.

He clarified that neither the leaders who tried to meet the Hurriyat had the consent of the government nor were they denied to do so.

The Minister said the delegation of 26 Parliamentarians from 20 parties came to Kashmir as they were very serious about the situation in the Valley.

Speakers while addressing the rally bemoaned the people killed and injured by Indian security forces over the past two months since the killing of Wani on July 8 and urged the world community to take the notice of Indian state aggression in the disputed territory.

“They never officially invited us (separatists) and at the same time (they) blame us for rejecting it”. Nothing concrete will happen until or unless India talks to Pakistan on Kashmir.

The APHC said, “Our resolve and will can in no way be dented by such immoral and undemocratic acts”.

“We met the political parties, civil society, university teachers, Vice Chancellors, fruit growers, students and some intellectuals”, he said.

The Chief Minister said she reiterated the commitment to catalyse the reconciliation and confidence building within the state and across the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir.
