Although only 18 when he made his last appearance for Pakistan, Amir has 14 Tests, 15 ODIs and 18 global T20s to his name.
“If I get a chance to play in New Zealand it will not be easy bowling to this (changed) approach but mentally I am prepared for a hard comeback”, Amir said. Please note that comments are automatically checked for inappropriate language and will be removed accordingly.
Mohammad Amir has expressed his excitement at the prospect of returning to worldwide cricket, after being called up for Pakistan’s Twenty20 and ODI matches in New Zealand.
It will be Pakistan’s last Twenty20 series before the World Twenty20 tournament in March.
Amir became eligible for national selection within four months of completing an ICC ban for spot-fixing.
Pakistani cricket coach Waqar Younis (L) speaks with players as cricketers Mohammad Amir (C) and Azhar Ali (R) listen during a practice session in Lahore on December 29, 2015.
Pakistan ODI skipper Azhar Ali and Mohammad Hafeez’s refusal to train alongside Amir in a national camp had threatened to divide the team but, according to the Khan the matter has been “resolved”.
Meanwhile, former captain Rashid Latif said that he has problems with Amir representing the national team but has no issues with him playing in February’s Pakistan Super League.
Also, Umar Gul, fit again after a long battle with injuries, was named in the T20I squad.
“Irfan is in our plan and he is a proven talent but we wanted to try a different combination and hence dropped him”. But we have to see how he performs because there will be lot of pressure on him and everything he does will be scrutinised.
