Mounting onslaught on the Trinamool Congress government, Home Minister Rajnath Singh had on Thursday stated “Ma-mati-manush” (mother, earth and people) and even police are not secure in West Bengal and had said the Malda incident was not a small one.

Extended greetings to Shah on the same, Modi took to Twitter and wrote, “Congratulations to Shri @AmitShah on being elected BJP president”. Despite the Delhi and Bihar setbacks, the party cadre and its senior leaders had continued to repose faith in Mr Shah’s ability to learn from mistakes, consolidate gains and energise the party to take on future challenges. “If the BJP is voted to power here you will witness a change for development”. “We have taken action in the Chit Fund case and are looking into all chit funds since 1980”, Chatterjee said.

Shah came in for praise from party leaders.

This had demoralised the grassroots-level party workers as they were constantly coming under the alleged attacks of TMC workers. “This is now the gateway for smuggling fake Indian currency notes and weapons”, he charged. “But due to misrule of Congress, Communists and TMC, the state is now moving backward”, he said. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, union ministers Rajnath Singh, Sushma Swaraj, Manohar Parrikar, Venkaiah Naidu and Nitin Gadkari, as well as chief ministers of BJP-ruled states were among those who signed the nomination papers supporting Shah.
