Amnesty calls for alleged Nigerian army massacre
The people present in the agitation termed the attack directed on leader of the IMN, Ibraheem Zakzaky, a Shia cleric, an attempt to crackdown upon Muslims in the country.

“Sheikh Ibrahim Zakzaky was arrested this morning in his demolished home by soldiers where he had been holed up in a room that was spared from the fire that gutted the house from grenades”, Musa added.
“It is essential that all sides refrain from actions that further destabilize the situation”, read a statement from the US Mission.
The sect, known as the Islamic Movement of Nigeria (IMN), denies the allegation.
The Islamic Movement in Nigeria belongs to the Shiite Islamic sect.
There is a long history of clashes between the Nigerian armed forces and the IMN.
It has thrown him in jail in the past on charges of stirring up violence between Muslims and Christians. One year after the revolution, Zakzaky again traveled to Iran to meet with Khomeini, and was gifted a copy of the Quran and encouraged to spread its teachings in Nigeria. At least four people were killed.
“Those who are in support of the Zaria killings are giving a helping hand to arbitrariness and spitting on a fundamental right that may be used against them someday”. “Despite the unwarranted attack, the march forged ahead”. Hundreds more were in a local mortuary, he said.
A photograph of Zakzaky, badly wounded and half-naked, circulated on social media on Tuesday but Anadolu Agency was unable to verify the image. When that didn’t work, according to SBM, “the military opened fire to cover their principal, after which they left the location”.
“The ad hoc committee will comprise the chairmen and vice chairmen of the Senate Committees on Defence; Intelligence and National Security; Judiciary and Human Rights; Army; Police Affairs; Internal Affairs; and Foreign Affairs”.
According to an electronic statement released on behalf of the Executive Secretary of the Commission, Professor Ben Angwe, the panel was set up in response to the formal petition lodged by the Nigerian Army.
The IRNA yesterday, quoted Rouhani as telling President Muhammadu Buhari to ensure that “minor disputes must not be allowed to turn into deep differences”. Boko Haram, a Salafist group, claimed responsibility for the attack and threatened to “wipe out” the Shiites opposed to its radical vision of Islam. Though this is not the first time an incident like this has befallen the Shiite group in Northern Nigeria, the response of the military is a surprise.
Three of Mr. Zakzaky’s sons had been killed in a similar attack by the Nigerian Army in July 2014. The group then re-emerged stronger and more violent in 2011.

Rouhani emphasised on the need for unity among Muslims. They claim they were attacked by the Nigerian army who killed hundreds in what has been called a massacre.
