Amy Poehler Featured Tasteless Blue Ivy & R. Kelly Joke On Her Show
While she didn’t speak them herself on the show (that honor was given to Julie Klausner), Poehler is said to be very hands-on with the scripts for the series. On Poehler’s new Hulu sitcom hard People, the three-year-old toddler is used as joke fodder along with the oft-discussed act that has landed Kelly negative infamy. “She wouldn’t make this joke about Suri Cruise”.

Difficult People, the new Hulu series executive produced by Amy Poehler, is about two friends who learn how hard their lives can be when normal people hear about their incredibly negative attitude.
The joke in question – “I can’t wait for Blue Ivy to be 18 years old so R Kelly can piss on her” – has been largely condemned on social media. There’s also a racial aspect to the debate, in that some commenters believed Amy would have never written such a joke about a 3-year-old white girl.
Amy Poehler’s New Show UNDER FIRE…
In a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, Klausner said Poehler was heavily involved with writing the show.
“Amy could not have been more hands-on”. Tasteless? Maybe. It’s worth noting that Klausner’s character admits to being lambasted online for this joke, and her boyfriend doesn’t seem particularly approving of it either, but as we learned on Saturday Night Live recently, one thing you do NOT want is for the Beygency to come after you. She weighed in on casting videos, cast roles.

Twitter has since boiled over with tweets from outraged fans. “She would be involved in every stage of the process in a way that she would go above and beyond”. Regardless, it seems the public feels that jokes about children and sexual assault are not a laughing matter.
