Amy Schumer announces ‘Inside Amy Schumer’ hiatus
Amy Schumer went on Charlie Rose this morning to distance herself from comedian Kurt Metzger, a writer for Inside Amy Schumer, after his Facebook rant about rape. She begins by praising the point of view that he brings to her show, saying that it works well because it’s so different from her own sensibility.

“He gets something from going after people, making them mad”, Schumer said. “That is not representative of me at all”, Amy told Charlie Rose. And I’ve asked him, ‘Can you just stop? She said she wanted the show’s writer’s room to include a variety of opinions and viewpoints, especially because “Jessi and I have such similar sensibilities”.
Schumer objected to the fact that “the focus is on him rather than on. the real main problem”. Metzger infuriated people when he claimed social media’s “mob mentality” led to a man accused of sexual assault being banned from the Upright Citizens Brigade comedy troupe before proven guilty.
Amy Schumer, who is now on the road promoting her memoir The Girl With the Lower Back Tattoo, has been defending and condemning a comedian who has written on her Comedy Central show, Inside Amy Schumer. Metzger then apologized for his original posts and said he supports victims, but still has questions about why UCB did not notify authorities.
Her messages, which appeared online on Wednesday (17Aug16), left fans concerned, and the 35-year-old felt compelled to hit Twitter on Thursday (18Aug16) to assure fans the show is coming back. She added, “He isn’t a writer for my show because we aren’t making the show anymore”. People, they want [Metzger’s] head; they want to burn him at the stake.
“So let’s all get on the same page so it happens less”. Many understood it as Schumer saying that “Inside Amy Schumer” is done for good but she followed it up saying that Comedy Central provided a wonderful home for her and her show but she is doing stand-up and is focusing on writing more so it is unclear when Season 5 will be out.
Schumer is now promoting her new book, “The Girl With the Lower Back Tattoo”.
The full interview will air Friday night on PBS.
