Amy Schumer appears to quit her own sketch show on Twitter

Amy Schumer blocked me on Twitter for this tweet. I’m not on Facebook so I don’t read his insane rants. “Don’t f-king complain about the police not helping if you didn’t bother going to the police at all”, he wrote in a now-deleted post. Never you mind who they are.

“I didn’t fire Kurt”, she wrote. She added she’s tried to get him to stop, and to realize anything he says “comes back to me”.

Schumer initially blocked various Twitter users who were calling on her to speak out about his comments, and she eventually replied that she was “disappointed” in Metzger and that he does not now work on her show, which is on hiatus.

During the interview, Schumer confirmed that Inside Amy Schumer is not making new episodes anytime soon, but made no mention of whether or not Metzger will be let go once the show does return. “There are no writers for it”. “Schumer then thanked Comedy Central for giving her time to work on other projects and promoted her new book, The Girl with the Lower Back Tattoo”.

And now she’s talking about the controversy in more detail with Charlie Rose, and why she thinks people should be more focused on the larger issue: the alleged rape.

Many believed her comments meant Metzger had been fired from the sketch series, but just a few hours later Schumer again took to Twitter to clarify her recent post. “We are slated for a season 5 but not in the foreseeable future”.

Schumer is starting an worldwide tour next week, performing in Edinburgh on August 30 and in Manchester and London on September 3 and 4.

She declared that his words were not hers. “Or asking for proof in a murder trial!”

“I want them to not attach me to what he’s writing.”
