Amy Schumer Discusses Kurt Metzger’s Rape Comments in New Interview
Going off on several rants on his Facebook and Twitter pages, Metzger told accusers, “Don’t f-ing complain about the police not helping if you didn’t bother going to the police at all”, and said the UCB “psionically projected into the mind of the rapist and determined he was guilty”.

He criticised those on social media who jumped to instant judgement, writing: “ALL women are as reliable as my bible!” Schumer responded on Twitter Wednesday, saying she was “saddened and disappointed” by Metzger’s statements. He recently commented on sexual assault accusations against another comedian and many considered those comments to be insensitive. He is not a writer on my show. Please stop asking me about it. “Kurt’s my friend. I love him”.
She said she could not fire him because “we aren’t making the show anymore. There are no writers for it”. “To focus your energy on online trolling, if I did that, I wouldn’t get anything done”, she says.
Amy Schumer cleared the air in an interview with Charlie Rose, saying that she does not want to be attached to writer Kurt Metzger’s words about rape and sexual assault. “And you know, I’ve asked him, ‘Can you just stop, because it comes back to me?'” She then reiterated that she does not agree with “whatever tangent he’s gone off on”, and said the show is now taking a break. “I love him. I’m not on Facebook so I don’t read his insane rants”.
“He gets something from going after people, making them mad”, Schumer said. “That is not representative of me at all”, the 35-year-old comedian – who was a victim of domestic abuse herself – told Rose.
She continued that though she has asked Metzger to refrain from posting similar content, the focus on him has distracted from what she views as the real problem.
The actress said she “couldn’t be happier” with her home at Comedy Central. “What was the situation?’ They treat it like the Salem Witch Trials”.
“People, they want his head”.
The 35-year-old, who revealed her own painful experience with nonconsensual sex in her new memoir The Girl with the Lower Back Tattoo, is appalled by the scandal because she thinks the real issue is not being addressed, despite the furore surrounding the situation.
