Amy Schumer lands book deal

Tina Fey’s book Bossypants has sold more than two million copies so far, and books in the same vein by Amy Poehler, Lena Dunham and Mindy Kaling were all bestsellers. The publisher told The Associated Press that the book would be a series of comedic essays inspired by the Emmy-winning comedian’s family, childhood and career, AceShowbiz reports. A source said that the final deal was at $9 million.

Schumer’s rep did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Fey received a $6 million advance for her book.

After speculation on Wednesday that Amy Schumer was planning to write an autobiography for a mega buck sum, the 34-year old comic has confirmed the deal with a simple tweet.

The star of Inside Amy Schumer will probably laugh all the way to the bank as her advance is a sign of the book’s expected sales. Her last film, Trainwreck, made $US137m at the worldwide box office.

Schumer has enjoyed recent box-office success as the star of Trainwreck. It centers on a mother and daughter who find themselves kidnapped while on vacation in Brazil. The comedian is also in the process of writing a screenplay with new best friend Jennifer Lawrence, in which the pair would play sisters. She also tweeted about the project. But the deal is widely believed to be worth well into seven figures.
