“Inside Amy Schumer” was deemed to be canceled after she tweeted about the statements of Kurt Metzeger about rape but she recently clarified that her touring schedule has made it hard to produce the season 5 of the show. Metzger went on something of a social media rampage this week in response to word that the Upright Citizen’s Brigade had banned a comedian accused of rape.
“We butt heads, we get in fights because he infuriates us”, Schumer said of working with Metzger on her show, while noting his contributions are valued because they’re from “the most male, the most out-there perspective possible”.
She said she was “saddened and disappointed” by her former colleague, but “he does not work for me”. Not because she wanted to, necessarily, but due to the fact that journalists, fans and trolls wouldn’t stop asking the Emmy-winning television and film personality for her take on Metzger’s comments. She begins by praising the point of view that he brings to her show, saying that it works well because it’s so different from her own sensibility.
Well, eventually she started tweeting that she didn’t agree with Metzger’s post and clarified that he was no longer a writer on her show.
In the Charlie Rose interview, she added: “I was sexually assaulted”. “Let’s focus on actually getting the problem done”.
Amy Schumer’s four-season run of Inside Amy Schumer on Comedy Central may have come to an abrupt end. “I love him. I’m not on Facebook, so I don’t read his insane rants”. Like, he just gets something from going after people, making them mad. “That is not representative of me at all”, she continued. “He is my friend and a great writer and I couldn’t be more against his recent actions”, Schumer wrote in a vague tweet.
“He is not a writer on my show”, she insisted.
“#InsideAmySchumer is not canceled“. “Inside Amy Schumer” is not cancelled but Season 5 is not yet coming to Comedy Central.
