Amy Schumer’s Show Isn’t Coming Back For A While

Schumer said she does not agree with his views on rape accusations, and that it’s hard for her to watch a friend “hurt themselves like this”.

Schumer’s comments follow a tweet Wednesday in which she said, “We aren’t making the show anymore”. The well-known comedy troupe and theater Upright Citizens Brigade banned a male comedian after multiple women accused him of rape, and Metzger took to Facebook to share his thoughts on the situation (although, to be clear, no one asked for his opinion). Like, he just gets something from going after people, making them mad.

“I am just touring doing standup and focusing on writing more for the next year at least”, Schumer announced. If she truly wanted to take a stand, she would have said Metzger is not now working on the show and won’t be in the future either. “We butt heads, we get in fights, because he infuriates us”.

In an appearance on Charlie Rose Thursday, Amy Schemer paddled around the whole Kurt Metzger situation like someone assiduously avoiding a odd warm spot in a public swimming pool.

Schumer admitted that Metzger is “the problem”, but said the focus of the conversation should be about how to help people better understand “what’s consensual and what’s not”. Rose asked Schumer if the “real problem” is finding “a smart understanding of what rape has become”, which Schumer confirmed.

Amy Schumer speaking about her film “Trainwreck” at the 2015 Tribeca Film Festival in NY on April 19, 2015. She added, “Let’s focus on actually getting the problem done”. As the controversy continued to play out, Schumer tweeted that she “didn’t fire Kurt”.

After fans freaked out over the tweets, the 35-year-old comedian clarified her comments, while also promoting her newly released book. Schumer’s full interview runs Friday on PBS.
