Okoro was in the Senate between 1999 and 2007.
Members and stakeholders of APC at the meeting were shocked when Chief Nwobodo and Senator Okolo, surfaced at the meeting.
While declaring his intention, the veteran politician chastised the leadership of the PDP for allowing five governors to leave for the APC ahead of the 2015 general elections.
“I can assure party members and all APC members that President Buhari has nothing to do with this political cesspool of corruption and immorality”, said the official.
Ngige who spoke to our reporter in his home town, Alor, Anambra State said that the party accepted Ekwunife into the party because politics is a game of inclusion, and that the party can not continue to shut out new members. I am talking because I want peace.
“I want our people to be reintegrated and have our own share of the Federal Government resources”, Nwobodo said.
Nwobodo recalled that while he was in PDP, his wife had always been an active member of the APC, just as he pointed out that the slogan “change” did not start now but started in 1983 when he was an opposition governor.
He defected to the APC in Enugu alongside a former senator, Fidelis Okoro, representing Enugu North, and another chieftain of PDP, Richard Ozobu.
The former senator who defected with other PDP stalwarts in the state declared that they were exhausted of the PDP impunity in the state.
“Even after these minor setbacks, I advised PDP to conduct primaries in other to produce a candidate who will fly the party’s flag in the oncoming repeat election, but since then, nothing meaningful has been done as they are busy creating more confusion in the party”.
