ANC shaken as voter base looks past race
“There are seven other opposition parties and then the EFF with six seats and the ANC with 50”, Trollip said, adding he also plans to include the former “as they are going to be a very effective opposition to keep me and my team on our toes”.

DA national spokeswoman, Phumzile van Damme, said on Monday night negotiations were continuing with all parties.
But political commentator Professor Somadoda Fikeni said the EFF and DA, which held differing political ideologies, were likely to work together initially at some of the metros only to find themselves in rocky relations.
While it appears to be shaken in some of the metros, the ANC remained significantly ahead across the country with an overall vote of 54,8 percent to the DA and EFF’s 26,51 percent 7,94 percent respectively.
The DA is now enjoying a lead of 46,65% of the votes, with the ANC following with 40,99%.
“We will not lie and say that we are not anxious when we lose a metro like Nelson Mandela Bay”, he said in an interview. “I think to us there’s something attractive about the story of the DA”.
“I don’t think there is anything to question about the results in Nelson Mandela Bay”. “There are still a number of things that must be raised around Nelson Mandela”.
The Democratic Alliance in the Nelson Mandela Bay is celebrating after winning the metro from the ANC. “There are two bunches of ballot papers that have been found dumped there and query is still coming to the IEC”, said the secretary general.
Final election results of the large metropolitan councils such as Tshwane will be released on Friday, deputy chief electoral officer of the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) Sy Mamabolo announced. As of Friday morning, 91% of result slips had been captured, scanned and audited. The party is fighting a close battle for control over two other key cities: Johannesburg and the administrative capital, Pretoria.

“It takes longer to count votes in a metro”, said Mamabolo.
