Ancelotti says his dismissal by Real Madrid ‘was not right’
However, City are already making contingency plans should Guardiola decide to extend his contract with Bayern beyond the end of the season, and the Daily Star reports that former Chelsea and Real Madrid manager Ancelotti would be a prime candidate to take on the job.

“I love the football here, I still have a house in London, and I would like to be with a team that is competitive in England and in Europe”.
“I was really, really unhappy because I had a fantastic relationship with the players. They were really serious, really professional”.
The former Parma and Juventus boss was axed by Chelsea in 2011 despite having led them to the Premier League and FA Cup double in his first season in charge at Stamford Bridge.
Fans are optimistic that Ancelotti could do a job in Manchester, particular after leading Real Madrid to a record tenth European Cup in 2013. “I could have decided not to sign but Real Madrid is the most important club in the world”, he told Matt Lawton of the Daily Mail. More pressure even than Milan.
He also noted that in Real Madrid “you are judged on the results, but you can not win every single year. Try losing 4-0 in the Madrid derby”.
He then joined Paris Saint-Germain and helped them win the French league title in 2013 before heading to Madrid, only to be sacked after two years in Spain’s top flight.
“I have received offers but I’d prefer to stay out of the job for a year”.

Ancelotti also put right a comment relating to Barcelona that was portrayed as rating La Blaugrana as ‘the best team in the world’.
