Anchorage shoppers support Small Business Saturday
“Small businesses are vital to our state’s economy, employing almost 70 percent of all working Kansans”, said Governor Brownback.

For Jason and many other local business owners, today is a day to not only support local businesses, but to bring everyone together in the community.
Rapid City Mayor Steve Allender proclaimed Saturday as Small Business Saturday to join the nationwide effort to steer shoppers toward locally owned businesses this holiday season. But, Bella Rose Boutique in Gulfport opened on Thanksgiving night.
“Small businesses are considered the backbone of your community”, said Matt McCormick, Columbia Chamber of Commerce President.
Even on Black Friday, shopping small may just be the way to go. The Bleu Frog on Alameda says that shopping local is a great way to help our area. Small business owners tell us it’s important to them to keep as many dollars local as possible.
Shop Small is the theme driving consumers to local businesses a day after the madness of Black Friday and before the online craze of Cyber Monday. “As the voice of small businesses, we want to do all we can to help promote our many small businesses”.
Small Business Saturday was started by American Express in 2010.
Saturday, the Austin Independent Business Alliance is hosting a Holiday Shop Hop all over Austin.
Compared to big retail stores, local store managers said they offer unique products.
