Ancient Artifacts Indy Could Search For In Indiana Jones 5

A new “Indiana Jones” film has always been rumored, occasionally with different actors taking over the role from the 73-year-old Ford.

“Indiana Jones” burst onto the screen in 1981 with “Raiders of the Lost Ark“, followed by “Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom” in 1984 and “Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade” in 1989.

To be produced by Kathleen Kennedy and Frank Marshall, the upcoming film will hit theatres same year with Lucasfilm’s “Star Wars: Episode IX”.

Notably absent from the press release is George Lucas’ name, who served as a producer and conceived the stories for all four previous Indiana Jones movies.

With Ford also prepping a return to Blade Runner, what exactly is the point in him diligently revisiting each of his most iconic roles at this point in his career?

Watch Harrison Ford actually enjoy himself while singing a Star Wars medley on The Tonight Show, something he will not be doing as Indy. As fans of the legendary franchise, the recent news of a fifth Indiana Jones movie has pretty much rocked our world; the character will once again return to thrill an all-new generation of fans. And I think I’m going to leapfrog that way for the rest of my career.

Look, I’ll be the first to agree that it’s a seemingly arbritary distinction, but while the Biblical and otherwise magical Macguffins of the first three Indiana Jones movies were permissible, something just felt weirdly off about bringing aliens into Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.

The other big news was that Steven Spielberg will direct Indiana Jones 5.

As Indy himself would put it: “It’s not the years, it’s the mileage”.
