Anderson blow for England
Mitchell Johnson became just the fifth Australia bowler to take 300 Test wickets as he hauled his side back into the third Ashes Test against England at Edgbaston in Birmingham city on Thursday.

If he hadn’t yet turned the tide of the match, Warner had at least given England something to think about after they dismissed veteran opener Chris Rogers and Steven Smith to leave Australia 62 for two.
After tea he had Michael Clarke (3) and Adam Voges (0) caught in the slips off consecutive balls before bowling Mitchell Marsh (6).
“If it’s an intercostal, we won’t see him again in this series“, the former pace bowling all-rounder said on Sky Sports.
“It’s been a while since I played Test cricket so to get a five-for on my game back feels fantastic”. Interestingly, Anderson had gone wicketless at Lord’s (for the first time ever) the week before.
Ball-tracking technology showed he got just one right with the second hitting the top of middle stump. Obviously the runs aren’t on the board, but I am sure a lot of us are aware we are not making enough of our first innings as we’d like. “They have got guys who can bat coming in”.
His exit left England 278 for nine and Hazlewood soon wrapped up the innings by having last man Anderson caught behind.
He pulled up with a side injury midway through his ninth over and will be assessed by England’s medics overnight, though he is clearly a doubt for next week’s Trent Bridge Test. We need (Mitchell) Starc and (Peter) Nevill to put on a hundred partnership.
The ball flew through what is considered one of the safest hands in the team when Bell was on 20 and England were 1-35.
Shane Warne was the only Australian bowler who took 708 wickets and scored 3154 runs in Test career.
He said: “You always want to win the Test but when you get these kind of accolades it’s always enjoyable”.
The wagging tail could be interpreted as a portent of how England might struggle in the fourth Test without Jimmy Anderson and/or another damning indictment of Australia’s batsmen.
Anderson took 6-47 in Australia’s first innings at Edgbaston, and has 413 test wickets overall.
Wickets kept tumbling at the other end but David Warner held his own.
Broad brought up England’s 200 in the 49th over and is 10 not out, alongside Moeen Ali on 23.

The pair added fast runs after lunch, Moeen once more displaying how worthwhile he’s coming in at quantity eight.
