Anderson Silva steps up to face Daniel Cormier in non-title bout
The B sample for former UFC light-heavyweight champion Jon Jones has been declared positive, matching the result of the earlier test that prompted the UFC to pull him from Saturday’s UFC 200 main event.

Dana White claimed that “Bones” had tested positive for two banned agents but the substances in question were not revealed by USADA, who insists that it is down to the fighter and his team to disclose that information. He defeated James Irvin in July 2008, Forrest Griffin in August 2009 and Stephan Bonnar in October 2012 – all via first-round knockout.
In a news conference on Thursday, he apologised to Cormier, saying: “I know this fight means a lot to him”.
Silva usually fights at 185 pounds, but he has been known to jump up to 205.
The bloodlust led to booing throughout – not a good look during a key part of the UFC’s biggest event to date, leading to much ridicule of the crowd’s conduct from more measured observers. That’s where Silva (33-7) stepped in, taking the fight on just two days notice.
“Anderson is giving Daniel the opportunity to fight, to make money and to perform on UFC 200”, White said. I want to get back the fight that I lost. He is 0-3 with 1NC in his last four fights, as he is coming off a controversial decision loss to Michael Bisping last February.
Speaking to ESPN, White stated that the new bout will be “interesting“, and backed the definitely un-prepared Silva to do some damage.
The UFC also changed the bout order for the second time in 24 hours, promoting Miesha Tate’s bantamweight title fight against Amanda Nunes to the main event. He returned to action in January 2015 in UFC 183.

“Oh man, I trained so hard”, Cormier says in the video as he pleads with White to allow the fight to go on, “Like, is there anything I can do?” Silva provides another narrative, and the UFC still has a replacement headliner – the fight between Brock Lesnar and Mark Hunt.
