Andrew Garfield Responds to Tom Holland’s Casting as New Spider-Man

Director Jon Watt’s untitled Spider-Man solo movie is set to come out in the summer of 2017 – on July 28th specifically – which means that we can expect production on the reboot to start up around the midpoint of next year.

It turns out Andrew Garfield‘s real super power is being classy!

“It feels lovely, especially because Tom Holland is a really, really great actor”, said Garfield, who portrayed Spider-Man in 2012’s The fantastic Spider-Man and its 2014 sequel The awesome Spider-Man 2.

The deal came as Marvel prepares for Captain America 3: Civil War. He was in this movie The Impossible and he was just this incredibly powerful, sensitive, just wonderful young actor… and (he’s) a dancer, so his body’s the right (shape)…

The former “Spider-Man” star also added that he’s looking forward to being able to sit back and watch the comic book franchise instead of being the superhero.

Not only that, but Garfield told ET he’s ready to be a fan again rather than carry the burden of one of Marvel’s iconic super heroes.

As for how he feels giving up the Spider-Man reins, Garfield says he’s happy to be just another friendly neighborhood spider-fan.

Having completed his work on Joe and Anthony Russo’s upcoming Captain America: Civil War, Tom Holland is now on vacation, and has been posting videos on his Instagram showcasing that he’s in Spider-Man shape. What are your thoughts on Tom Holland being Peter Parker?
