Andrew Luck on Colts’ injury report for first time since rookie year

Luck said on Monday that he didn’t expect to appear on the injury report this week, but that will now be the case.

At Wednesday’s press availability Chuck Pagano said Luck hurt his shoulder during Sunday’s game. But Luck said he and the Colts will “take it day by day”.

The injury isn’t expected to keep Luck out of Sunday’s game against the Jacksonville Jaguars at Lucas Oil Stadium.

The Colts face divisional foe Jacksonville Jaguars who just had a team record 51 points dropped on them by the New England Patriots.

It can easily be assumed that the Colts are looking forward to tuning up their offensive and pass rushing woes against the long-time division punching bag Jaguars, who are 8-20 all-time against Indy.

Dallas’ second-half collapse in Atlanta in its first game without Tony Romo and Dez Bryant and with a banged-up defensive line showed how tough it will be for the Cowboys until they start getting their stars back. In fact, Hasselbeck has appeared in only seven games in three years with the Colts, completing 37 of 56 passes for 431 yards, two touchdowns and one interception.

There’s been speculation regarding Luck’s health since Sunday’s win against the Titans. He played poorly and they lost. “This is no different than any player in any locker room in football”. Even the most casual fan understands that.

There’s never a good time for a player to get injured, but this is definitely the wrong time for the Colts to be anxious about Luck’s right shoulder. Cruz participated in a few individual drills, but he had to shut it down before the team phase of practice.

“Coach Pagano has built a great environment where you love playing with each other”, Luck added.

While Luck’s shoulder might not be 100 percent, it was clear that hasn’t impacted his elusiveness.

According to the Colts, it’s the first time Luck has been listed on the injury report since the end of his 2012 rookie season. Here’s the issue: Hasselbeck did not look sharp in the preseason.

Pushed for further elaboration, the head coach expressed, “supreme confidence that he’ll play”. Expects to play this Sun vs Jax. He’s optimistic he’ll play Sunday night against the Dallas Cowboys as the Saints seek their first win of the season.

Last weekend, with the Colts down 13 and less than 12½ minutes to play, Luck directed a 98-yard touchdown drive that may have saved their season.
