The Android 7.0 Nougat mobile operating system upgrade has always been in the beta phase, but Android users can finally rejoice as Google finally launched the newest mobile OS available.

If that’s not enough, one more person who offered details recently about the upcoming Nexus phones confirmed the news.

It’s undeniable that Google’s own Nexus devices are always the first to get the Android 7.0 Nougat upgrade, as was the trend in previous OS updates.

Given that many phones still don’t have Marshmallow, the last major Android Update, there’s no telling when everyone else will be getting their piece of Nougat.

You’ll find Google’s much-lauded split-screen mode, 72 new emoji, enhanced notifications and improved gaming features thanks to support for the Vulkan API. The update will also come with a Data Saver feature for data conscious users that will block background apps from accessing cellular data. HTC was the first one to announce the list of devices for Nougat update, right after the announcement of Android 7.0.

According to Engadget, Android 7.0 is actually rolling out as an Over the Air (OTA) update that has already begun.

The new OS also has Google’s new Daydream virtual reality platform, although it will be supported only by Daydream-ready handsets running the OS. This is despite of the fact that the Nexus 5 is still fully capable of operating on the new Android system. This is in contrast to Apple’s approach, which it is able to control thanks to producing both the OS and devices.

Also available is a new boot process called Direct Boot, some new emojis and an updated notification shade.

In the meantime, you can give the new feature a shot if you have a Nexus 6P by flashing the files shared on XDA-Developers via the source link below. Google has announced that it has started rolling out the update worldwide so it might still take a few days before you get the update.

It also says that the LG V20 will be the first Android smartphone to ship with Android 7.0 out of the box. If the update doesn’t show up, you should ideally wait until it does.
