Android creator Andy Rubin to make his own Android phones?
Sounds insane but that is what a report is saying.

Andy Rubin’s future company is likely to be financed via Playground Fund, the entity he founded after his departure from Google with which he plans to invest in startups. Since Playground’s inception, Rubin has funded a number of startups and projects, and it’s possible that he would be looking to somehow make the potential Android device work together with other products he may be developing.
The question is how Andy Rubin’s company will be able to stand out from other companies that are playing a major role in the Android business.
Once you’re bitten by the Android bug it can be hard to walk away, at least that’s what Andy Rubin is reportedly finding. Google’s Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P come close but it can be argued that they can be better.
According to The Information, Rubin has been trying to raise money to start a hardware company to produce phones. Rubin, who joined Google with the purchase, left Android in March 2013 and was replaced as top man on the totem pole by Sundar Pichai. After that he moved to Google’s robotics division, before leaving the Californian tech giant altogether in 2014.
If Rubin is entering the phone market, it may seem that he probably has a unique vision for the operating system that his company created decades ago and that this vision is different from that of Google.

With this in mind, it wouldn’t be too surprising to see Rubin jump back into the mobile business, especially to build hardware for a software he knows so well.
