Sony Xperia X Performance can now install preview edition of Android 7.0 Nougat OS by enrolling the Xperia Beta Program.
Google has increased the battery endurance in the latest Android OS by introducing a smarter Doze mode. “There are over 250 major features in Android Nougat”.
What that means is that Nougat will eventually be arriving not only on smartphones and tablets, but on wearables, televisions, cars and virtual reality devices. It will be a while before non-Nexus phone buyers will be able to experience the Android 7.0 Nougat. The Taiwan-based manufacturer HTC also confirmed has the newest Android version will be pushed to its HTC One M9, HTC One A9 and HTC 10 soon.
While users with the most recent Nexus devices can expect to see a Nougat update soon, it’s uncertain how and when many other Android devices will get the new OS.
Google has announced that it’s a gradual roll out which will be first hitting the nexus devices at first. What is slightly different than usual is that it took the company a whole day to do this, and also that for the time being factory images and OTA zips are only available for three of the supported devices.
In its official blog post, Google wrote, “And there are many tasty devices coming from our partners running Android Nougat, including the upcoming LG V20, which will be the first new smartphone that ships with Android Nougat, right out of the box”. Along with the platform, Google is expected to unveil a variety of VR movies, games and other types of content created in-house or in partnership with game developers and other organizations.

This is no surprise in itself, since it’s Google’s usual way of doing things.
