Android One comes to Europe with the BQ Aquaris A4.5

The idea is that once entry-level smartphone buyers get used to Android, they will stick with the platform for the rest of their lives. The other key differentiator from previous generation Android One smartphones is the presence of 4G LTE on this smartphone.

That’s great news for the people who have waited for Google’s Android One initiative for a long time. Now, Android One is expanding into Spain and Portugal with the BQ Aquaris A4.5.

Actually, the BQ Aquaris A4.5 is not the first ever such device to enter the continent.

Android One has had some impact in developing markets, such as Bangladesh, Nepal, Sri Lanka and The Philippines by delivering modern day hardware at really affordable prices.

The Aquaris A4.5 sports a 4.5-inch IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen display that supports qHD (540 x 960) pixels resolution and features Asahi DragonTrail glass coating for extra protection.

In addition, the BQ Aquaris A4.5 comes with 3-month subscription to Google Play Music All Access and a 5-year smartphone guarantee.

The handset is called the Aquarius A4.5 and it will be available in Spain for €169.90 and in Portugal for €179.90, according to a report by Geeky Gadgets. It is powered by quad-core MediaTek MT6735M processor clocked at 1GHz, clubbed with 1GB of RAM and ARM Mali T720-MP1 GPU clocked at 450MHz. Storage is set at 16GB, but thankfully, there is also a microSD card slot for up to 64GB expansion.
