Google has also made major changes in the design to make it look attractive.
A bigger problem than the Android P not coming to the Nexus 5X and the Nexus 6P is the fact this version of Android will not come to majority of Android phones sold in the last six months.
Google on Wednesday announced Android P is now available through its developer program. Android has long kept the clock on the right side of the status bar.
Chiefly, Android P brings with support for “cutout” displays, no doubt to tackle the growing epidemic of iPhone X copycats such as the Asus Zenfone 5 series and upcoming LG G7 and OnePlus 6. Pixel users who are not signed up as developers yet can also go ahead try the preview, but one does have to be comfortable using command line tools and wiping the device for a fresh start with Android P. Developers on a different device can go ahead and download the Android Emulator to test their apps.
Unfortunately, that means that mainstream support is ending for the Nexis 5X, Nexus 6P, and Pixel C, as has been confirmed by Ars Technica. “On devices with either dual-front or dual-back cameras, you [developers] can create innovative features not possible with just a single camera, such as seamless zoom, bokeh, and stereo vision”, Burke said.
We tried Android P DP1 on the Pixel XL and below are some videos and screenshots showing off the new UI and Changes in the Android P. However, the secondary camera could improve a lot of things. It has the ability to access streams from multiple physical cameras at once along with built-in support for High Dynamic Range (HDR) VP9 Profile 2, HEIF and Media APIs.
Well, as this is a developer preview, it’s not meant for daily or consumer use. One of the most important one being support for display cutout.
⮞ Android P will encrypt backups on the device with a local secret key before sending the backup for storage on Google’s servers. You will be able to use Smart Replies, stickers and images directly from within a notification when responding. If it is in your gadget, then it’ll appear as a little magnifying glass below your screen when taking a photo or open an image. Android P offers native support for the TensorFlow-powered neural network.
Google warns that this is “an early baseline build for developers only” and says that more will be revealed at its I/O event in May.
The Pixel C is also nearing its end.
