Android Pay is now Google Pay

Google’s online payments system is created to speed up purchases and reduce failure rates. All of these are ways we’ve been working to make paying safer and easier for everyone, everywhere. According to the announcement, the app on Android will have all the existing features of Android Pay plus some additional ones, including an extra layer of security as Google Pay wont share the user’s card number at POS.

Today, the firm is taking its first step and rolling out the app to users worldwide, with US users reportedly getting it first.

The new Google Pay aims to unify both Android Pay and Google Wallet, and it works in apps, online, in retail stores, and through P2P. This means users will be able to access its features from other Google apps, be it Chrome, Play Store or even Google Assistant. Here’s a closer look.

The application was renamed as part of an update which added new features, including new Home and Card tabs. The “Home” half includes your default credit or debit card on top for quick payments as well as recent purchases, nearby local offers and more. The app can also be used to pay for transit in select cities, such as Kiev, Portland, and London, with more cities to be supported soon. Now all you need at the turnstile is the device that’s already in your hand.

The new app will sport all of Android Pay’s features, with some additions. “Bing Ads does not now take Bitcoin today as a form of payment”, she said.

Google Pay’s interface is fairly straightforward. It took time, but most banks have come around now.

Earlier this year Google announced it would be merging Android Pay and Google Wallet into one payment service, Google Pay. Third-party apps and sites can join in as well. And will Google allow marketers pay for advertising services through cryptocurrency? Looking back at the Google Play Store’s history, this application was known as the Android Market when the Android OS was first launched.
