Google is planning to bring a few interesting loyalty programs to Android Pay by partnering up with various brands, according to the company’s Senior Vice President of ads and commerce, Sridhar Ramaswamy.

Which leads to that new loyalty program – and the theoretical Cokes.
Google is also trying to drive its card partners to raise consumer awareness of Android Pay and has been working with American Express, MasterCard, and Visa to do so. With Android Pay being pitched as a rival to Apple Pay, it was about time that Android Pay came up with a similar feature. Coca-Cola is the first merchant in the Google loyalty program, and the logic is simple: Tap your phone on an NFC-enabled Coke vending machine, get a Coke and get points added into your Android Pay account for future purchases.
Android Pay launched in early September, but now that it’s here, that doesn’t mean that Google will be resting and making us wait for new features.
According to Google, marketers are excited about the enhancements, as it will be easy for them to track data.
In an effort to continue the growth of Android Pay, Google will ramp up its marketing efforts. Work is also being put in to get card issuing banks to participate, but that might be a tough sell since a few of these banks have their own mobile payment products to push.
