Android Pay is Google’s answer to Apple Pay, which requires an Apple device. Android Pay has no such charges, the sources said, plus the Apple app can not be used by about eighty percent of credit card users in Australia without the support of big banks.

Making good on a promise stated in September, Google kitted out Android Pay with a feature that lets users “speed through mobile checkout” in their favorite apps. OpenTable is offering $20 less on dinner bills, Vinted is willing to take 30 percent off its “preloved” clothing and Lyft will take $10 off on fare for a ride through its ridesharing network.

Google has delivered Android Pay support for in-app purchases.

Apple is demanding 15 basis points in interchange fees that banks have refused to share, people familiar with such negotiations said.

“Aussies will be able to use Android Pay everywhere contactless payments are accepted”, an official Google statement said. Android users, unfortunately, will have to wait for nearly a year before they can start enjoying the said feature.

And it’s not an Apple Pay comes to Australia** a href=”http://www.techly.com.au/2015/10/28/apple-pay-finally-comes-to-australia-via-american-express-only/” class=”local_link” target=”_blank” *Apple was American Express.
