Android Pay to launch in the United Kingdom next month

If this really happens, you’ll be able to use the service just like PayPal, making online payments for fun. “This was a big year for Android Pay, and we’re excited about what’s to come”.

Android Pay has been available in the U.S. since a year ago and now it looks like the mobile payment service is getting ready to launch in the UK.

However, consumers will have more services to choose from by the end of 2016.

It may have only recently launched Android Pay, but Google is already looking to save people the effort of digging their handsets out at the checkout.

It’s a similar technology to Apple Pay, Apple’s mobile payment solution that’s only available for those with iOS devices – like the iPhone 6S. This means Samsung Pay theoretically works at every payment terminal in the world, where Apple Pay only works at NFC terminals.

Consumers have to register their card details on select Samsung smartphones – such as the Galaxy S6, S7 or Note 5, which have fingerprint sensors – before they can use their phone as a mobile wallet.

This will provide a huge boost to the burgeoning mobile payments industry in the United Kingdom, with Android smartphones now accounting for more than half of all smartphones sold in Britain.

Yet, in case of Apple Pay, retailers want payment terminals that are special to process the trade. Only a tiny fraction of consumers who own devices capable of using mobile wallets actually use them, according to Crone.

Juniper Research predicted Tuesday that the number of consumers using mobile phones to make payments at retail will reach 148 million worldwide this year, up 64% from 90 million in 2015.

“Both Apple Pay and Android Pay have sought to address such worries by deploying finger print technology on their mobile phones”, Duffy noted.

Samsung Pay is yet another cashless payment platform which lets you make contactless payments easily.

A new Bloomberg report says the relatively new Samsung Pay’s adoption rate has been faster when compared to the Apple Pay (when it debuted).

In China, for instance, near-field communication (NFC) terminals are not that widespread compared to conventional terminals, which might pose some issues given that Apple Pay uses NFC technology.
