Android Pay to launch this week, say leaks

According to Google, “security is at the centre of Android Pay” and the technology uses “industry standard security tokenisation”, which it developed in conjunction with the likes of American Express, MasterCard and Visa.

Google has yet to announce an official launch date for Android Pay, its Apple Pay rival, only committing to a launch “later this year”.

The McDonald’s notice, which was first spotted by Android Police, urges employees to review the training materials to remind themselves of the service procedures, which it describes as “the same as with Apple Pay”.

Android Pay is Google’s own competitor to payment systems launched by a range of companies, including Apple and Samsung.

Is Android Pay the same as Samsung Pay?

LIVESTOCK ALCHEMIST McDonald’s is reportedly ready to accept Android Pay in return for its foodstuffs and sugar water.

Like Apple Pay, Google’s new payments platform is easy to adopt.

Interestingly, the notice also mentioned that Samsung Pay acceptance has already begun.

Unveiled in May, Android Pay will let you purchase items with a swipe of your phone.

Samsung Pay also only works in-store, not online.

Android Pay is not officially available anywhere now, although Google claims it “will soon be accepted in over 700,000 store locations… across the US”.

The addition of mobile payment options for users of Android phones is likely to help drive much of that growth, as the number of Android users far outweighs the numbers of iPhone and Apple Watch users.
