There you should find information about the Android security patch level. This is the first security patch for Nougat and that means new Android 7.0 builds for a few devices.

With Google having yet to upload the Android 7.0 factory images for some Nexus devices, there are several patches for Marshmallow. Some devices that are released today, won’t see the update to Android Nougat, and if they do, it may take months and may lead up to the release of Android 8.0 when that is released next year. “This issue is rated as Critical due to the possibility of a local permanent device compromise, which may require reflashing the operating system to fix the device”, Google said in its September Android security update. This is expressed as a date string in Android’s settings under “About phone” and indicates that the firmware contains all Android security patches up to that date.
The Android software and phone maker also fixed six more critical bugs in the mobile operating system, including two remote code execution flaw in core Android components. The two remaining flaws in the QuadRooter family that Google patched Tuesday are privilege escalation bug in the kernel and a another in the Qualcomm networking component. Five of these flaws are rated critical and could lead to a permanent compromise that could require reflashing the device. Google’s explanation for this third patch level is that the two issues it covers were discovered after its partners were already informed about most of the other flaws.
This month’s patches include a fix for two serious vulnerabilities that could let an attacker gain complete access to a device and its data.

This is the first time that Google has released three individual patch streams, and the company said it’s doing so in an effort to allow carriers and OEMs to get the security updates to users as quickly as possible. However, according to Google, 2016-09-05 may also include “a subset of fixes associated with the September 6, 2016 security patch level”.
