Sources have told newspaper The Sun that the couple have had their 12 week scan and revealed the news to delighted members of their family.

The baby is expected to arrive in February 2016.

It comes after the pair married at a ceremony in Murray’s home town of Dunblane, Scotland, in April.

It is possible that Sears fell pregnant during the French Open where Murray lost to Novak Djokovic during the semi-final in June.

Speaking to Sky Sports 3 this year about his marriage, he said: “It has been nice and a lot of people have spoken about the honeymoon period.

It is something that I’m starting to think about because Kim and I have been together for eight years”.

Writing in his autobiography, Andy joked that having his two dogs sometimes felt like having to look after children.

Mrs Murray, formerly Kim Sears, has been an ever-present in the tennis grandstands cheering him on since they first met at the US Open in 2005. Judy Murray should be extremely happy to know she is going to be a grandmother, as she previously expressed her desire to endure that role for her son.
