Andy Murray a contender for more majors with Ivan Lendl – Jamie Baker
Andy Murray lived up to the sky-high expectations when beating Canadian Milos Raonic in the Wimbledon final on Sunday, telling CNBC the day after that he felt “really good, a little exhausted but very, very happy”.

Murray clinched his third Grand Slam title as he brushed aside Canada’s Milos Raonic with an imperious 6-4, 7-6 (7/3), 7-6 (7/2) victory in Sunday’s final.
As well as chasing down Djokovic, Murray feels the birth of his daughter Sophia earlier this year has given him the extra motivation he needed to win more major tournaments.
World number one Novak Djokovic will also be missing from the quarter-final tie, which will be played on clay.
“I was distracted by the major event that was coming up because that was what really motivated me”.
Murray’s consistency has undoubtedly been high, with five successive finals, including two in Grand Slams, while Djokovic has established his big lead at the top not only through four successive Grand Slam wins, but by winning a series of other tournaments.
What about world number one?
Andy Murray believes fans have yet to see the best of him as he targets more Grand Slam success after his second Wimbledon title.
“I didn’t just become a better tennis player after having a child”.
He said: “I could do with a few days off”.
Murray said: “It’s something I spoke to my team about, something I chatted to Ivan about”.
Murray adds that even if he doesn’t play in the matches, scheduled for Friday through Sunday, he probably still will travel to Belgrade “just to be there with the team”. They defeated 15th seeds Farah and Gronefeld to claim the final title of the championship on centre court.
Murray was back at the All England Club on Monday morning for another round of media interviews looking somewhat bleary eyed.
“I do think he’s a leader”. I’m going to call him after this, ‘ said Murray of his playing chances.

“But obviously having children changes your perspective on life, changes your perspective on things, so I feel like I’m appreciating things a bit more now. I’d love to get to No. 1 in the world, it’s an incredibly hard thing to do”, he said, lauding the steadiness of Djokovic, who suffered a surprise exit in Wimbledon’s third round. To do it here in front of the people I love, my friends and family, my coaches, with so much support.
