Andy Murray beats Milos Raonic to claim Wimbledon 2016 title
And he is the first British man to win multiple Wimbledon titles since Fred Perry in 1934-1936. “Like I said earlier, the guys that I’ve been playing against are the best three players of all time potentially”, Murray said.

“I think before when I won here I was motivated genuinely exclusively really by the Slams”.
“We are a team and whether I’m playing or not I’ll always try to support”. It also has given me a little bit of extra motivation to work hard, train hard and do all of the right things to give myself a chance to win these events.
Having previously reached the semi-finals at Wimbledon in 2014 and again at this year’s Australian Open, where he pushed Murray to five sets, a first major final appearance represents a significant step for the 6ft 5ins powerhouse.
Murray nearly single-handedly led Britain to their first Davis Cup triumph for 79 years in November. It is going to be a tough task but we have a great team spirit and I hope that after his win he can take part. “Failing’s okay, providing that you’ve given your best and put everything into it”. I did that and got results from it. But failing’s not bad.
“I’m also aware of how hard these competitions are to win once”. “Grass is his favourite surface, with the amount of times he has won at Queen’s [a record five titles]”.
“That’s it. Just have kind of not been afraid of failing”.
“This one’s going to sting”, Raonic said. He has never been higher than two and now trails the Serb by 15,040 ranking points to 10,195.
Raonic somewhat came back into form by firing 3 aces to just 1 for Murray in the one hour and six minute second set. “I played some really good stuff today”, Murray was quoted as saying.
And now the question becomes whether his third major championship will propel to him to more – and, if so, how many more? “I was moving the ball around well”. After several intense volleys, the two finalists brought the match to its first tiebreak. He won his first point on Raonic’s serve each time, and never looked back, winning both comfortably.
“This has been a great tournament for me, but if I want to win a few slams over the next few years I am going to have to get better”. The Scot was able to answer in the second game, as he and Raonic exchanged wins on their way to a 3-3 tie heading into the seventh game.
“I’d love to get to No. 1 for sure and the way to do that is to show up every week and be focused on that event”.
When asked on what his mindset was heading into the final against, Andy Murray replied: “I wasn’t thinking to much about the previous matches that I played against him [Raonic], so this was more just an opportunity to try to win another Wimbledon title”.
