Andy Murray Named Team Great Britain’s Flag-Bearer for 2016 Olympics
Murray, however, isn’t anxious at all – he said his doctor told him he’d be fine, and that his wife Kim wasn’t going to Brazil not because of Zika fears, but because she was never planning to in the first place.

Carrying the British flag at the Rio 2016 opening ceremony is an honour for Andy Murray.
“I looked at some of the photos and it does look a lot better so I’ll give it a go, but they were all bigger and stronger than me”. I have great memories of London and I am 100 per cent focused on winning here in Rio. Hopefully, I don’t get too many mosquito bites, but I don’t think it’s too bad at this time of the year.
At the London 2012 games, where Sir Chris Hoy led Team GB, Murray also picked up a silver medal in the mixed doubles alongside Laura Robson.
The world number two has won Olympic gold, ended Britain’s long wait for a men’s champion at Wimbledon, played his sport on the biggest stages and been feted at every award ceremony you can mention.
By turning the tables in the Olympics, Murray put himself in the conversation with Federer, Djokovic and Rafael Nadal and rode the momentum to his first major title at the U.S. Open later that summer. “But here it’s totally different conditions, a different venue, a different country so I just try and treat it like any other tournament”.
Earlier on Wednesday Murray had expressed his disappointment that many of tennis’s leading players have not travelled to Rio to contest the men’s singles title. That meant he lost valuable ranking points, especially as he seeks to eclipse Djokovic and finish the year as world number one.
“Getting to represent Great Britain in a home Olympics is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity”.
She added: “I’ve been to plenty of tennis events over the years – I was in Beijing and I was in London and I’m very happy to miss this one and watch it on the television”. “For me the Olympics is the biggest sporting event by far and I’m proud to be here”.

Great Britain’s flag-bearer will be hoping to make a fast start but he will need to be wary of Troicki, who triumphed in the Apia International Sydney back in January before ending runner-up at in the Sofia Open the following month.
