Montreal native Greg Rusedski reached the U.S. Open final in 1997 but he was representing Great Britain at the time.
“I have a very good shot if I play my best tennis”, he said.
‘I have a tremendous respect and admiration for everything he’s achieved in his career. “It doesn’t matter what’s happened in the past really – it’s about what happens on Sunday”, he said. “It’s about what happens on Sunday”.
“He loves playing on this court – we’ve played a bunch of times here”, Murray said.
Popular usage to the contrary, the definition of insanity is not actually doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result.
Murray has had a lot on his mind this time. His wife, Kim, is back in Britain and due to have their first baby next month.
Novak Djokovic says his biggest battle is internal as he fights to extend his domination of men’s tennis – even if his supremacy is not always appreciated by the fans. Raonic, who beat former victor Stan Wawrinka and Gael Monfils to reach his second major semi-final, was bidding to become the first Canadian man to reach a Grand Slam title match.
It was the 28-year-old Scot’s fourth win in seven encounters with the much-improved Canadian, who slowed in the final set as he completed the match grimacing from a right groin injury.
“I need to do it for long enough to have a chance, I’m aware of that”, Murray said.
“It’s unfortunate… probably the most heartbroken I’ve felt on court, but that’s what it is”, Raonic said.
Raonic uncharacteristically smashed his racket after going down a break in the fifth set.
“I guess that was the whole frustration of everything getting out”.
Jamie secured his first doubles grand slam trophy when he and partner Bruno Soares came from behind to beat Canada’s Daniel Nestor and Czech Radek Stepanek in the final. The men’s doubles decider follows the women’s final between six-time champion Serena Williams and Angelique Kerber.
The world number one has dominated the match-up overall too, leading the pair’s head-to-head 21-9 and winning 10 of their last 11 meetings.
No. 2-ranked Murray posted a 4-6, 7-5, 6-7 (7-4), 6-4, 6-2 win over No. 13-seeded Milos Raonic in a match that finished just before midnight Friday night.
The first and second ranked players in the world will meet in the climax of the tournament after the Scot saw off Milos Raonic in five sets on Friday. Murray twice trailed by a set, but he took the fourth and the fifth to get the job done in four hours and three minutes of play.
Victory for Andy would see him add to his 2013 Wimbledon and 2012 US Open grand slam titles. He was moving very well at the end and was playing confidently.
‘Fighting for a Grand Slam trophy is a pinnacle of our sport.
“But Andy was very good mentally against Raonic and I have a good feeling for this”. I won some of the breakpoints I faced.

It was of little consolation, however, for a player who was left on the sidelines for much of last season due to a string of injuries. He’s one week older than me so we grew up together.
