On the tennis court in 2015, Murray reached the semi-finals of the French Open and Wimbledon, and won his first titles on clay.

“Just now it’s a big change coming”.

“It’s very hard to plan when your first child is going to be but it’s probably the best planning for Andy because he has always struggled after the Australian Open, and understandably so”, he said.

“I’d be way more disappointed winning the Australian Open and not being at the birth of the child”, Andy said in January at Perth’s Hopman Cup event.

Murray was on the receiving end of a fourth Australian Open final defeat to world No 1 Novak Djokovic last month before announcing his intention of taking time out of the sport.

“You have been a legend the last two weeks and I will be on the next flight home”.

“While her tennis star husband Andy Murray is sweating it out in the blazing Melbourne heat, heavily pregnant Kim Sears is keen to maintain her own exercise regime”.

Fans used social media to congratulate the couple.

First Minister Nicola Sturgeon tweeted: “Lovely news”.

Luckily, the Scotsman didn’t have to make a speedy return as Kim gave birth in February as predicted.
