Andy Murray will face Lu Yen-hsun in Wimbledon second round

He will now face world No.2 Murray – likely on Centre Court – on Saturday for a place in round four, having lost their only previous encounter in Brisbane in 2013.

Andy Murray’s third-round match against Australia’s John Millman today takes that sequence to six day, with three appearances there for him.

Murray was in the middle of a solid and largely straightforward 6-3 7-5 6-2 third-round victory over Australian John Millman when news came through of Querrey’s victory on Court One next door.

Keys, seeded No. 9 after breaking into the top 10 for the first time this month, also reached the third round with a 6-4, 4-6, 6-3 win over Kirsten Flipkens.

Ramos-Vinolas was serving for the match at 5-3 30-30 in the fifth set when his first serve was called out but immediately over-ruled by Italian Torella, handing the point to the Spaniard.

Williams last won Wimbledon in 2008, and she hasn’t gone past the fourth round since 2010.

This, though, is hardly her first big victory.

The pair have played just once, Murray winning in Brisbane three years ago.

Nishikori, who reached the fourth round in 2014, will next face Andrey Kuznetsov of Russian Federation.

Djokovic, who holds all four grand slam titles, trailed 7-6 (8/6) 6-1 overnight, with rain stopping play on Friday evening.

A potential quarter-final opponent for Murray, No7 seed Richard Gasquet, later came through Marcel Granollers, 4-6, 7-5, 6-3, 6-1.

Chuang and Mona Barthel of Germany were ousted 6-3, 6-3 in 1 hour, 12 minutes by Japanese duo Eri Hozumi and Miyu Kato, while Chan Chin-wei and Han Xinyun of China were routed 6-1, 6-4 in just 58 minutes by 10th-seeded U.S. pairing Raquel Atawo and Abigail Spears.

Murray may not have been paying close attention to Djokovic, but the rush of adrenaline upon seeing his chances of winning the tournament go through the roof could easily have helped carry him through some rough spots in the match against Millman.

Millman played Roger Federer at the Australian Open in January, so is not a total stranger to the big occasion, and defeated 26th seed Benoit Paire in the second round, so will not be a pushover.

Garbine Muguruza’s first major tournament as a reigning Grand Slam champion didn’t last long.

Today’s play (July 1st) features another match-up between Roger Federer and a Briton as Dan Evans takes on the seven-times victor, while there is a heavyweight clash between fourth seed and two-time Grand Slam victor Stan Wawrinka and 2009 US Open champion Juan Martin del Potro, who has recently returned after recovering from wrist surgery.
