Andy Reid: Jamaal Charles is ‘probably not going to play’

Pro Bowl safety Eric Berry will be in the starting lineup for the Kansas City Chiefs when they host the San Diego Chargers to kick off the 2016 regular season Sunday afternoon at Arrowhead Stadium. Kansas City is 7-3 ATS in their last 10 games on grass while the under is 5-2 in their last 7 home games and 3-1-1 in their last 5 vs. the AFC West.

Mired in an eight-game SU losing streak against AFC West rivals, it would be no surprise if the Chargers battled nerves ahead of their date in Kansas City. I won’t lie, having rooted for this franchise my entire life, there’s a part of me that expects a train wreck.

ABOUT THE CHARGERS (2015: 4-12): Philip Rivers put up huge passing numbers last season, mostly out of necessity, as the Chargers ranked 31st in the league in rushing and found themselves playing from behind more often than not. On the defensive side of the ball, the big story is defensive end Joey Bosa.

This game will be closer than most expect. The additions of receivers Keenan Allen and Travis Benjamin also provide Rivers with experienced targets downfield. If the Chiefs can’t get pressure on Rivers, this could be a nail-biter.

Charles didn’t rejoin the Chiefs for practice until the final days of training camp and even then in a limited way.

In news regarding big-name tight ends, Rob Gronkowski won’t suit up for the New England Patriots with a bum hamstring, but the Seahawks’ Jimmy Graham is expected to play, Carroll said.
