“Our commitment to developing talent and the competence of our local engineers are part of our success story in India”, said Peter Tyroller, the member of the Bosch board of management responsible for Asia Pacific. The two leaders will also visit theinnovation and skilling centres at the German company M/sBosch. “This has to reach 25 percent in the short and medium term”, Modi said at an Indo-German summit in presence of visiting German Chancellor Angela Merkel. This was the first visit of German Chancellor to India since the new Government was formed in India in May 2014. Prime Minister Modi and Chancellor Merkel have chose to forge an Indo-German Climate and Renewable Alliance, a comprehensive partnership to harness technology, innovation and finance in order to make affordable, clean and renewable energy accessible to all and to foster climate change mitigation efforts in both countries.
Merkel said she had spoken to Russian President Vladimir Putin about the conflict in Syria on the sidelines of a meeting in Paris Friday with him and the leaders of France and Ukraine. “To tap the energy fully, we have launched the “Start-up India” campaign”, Modi told about 500 invitees, including a German business delegation, which came with Merkel on a three-day official visit to the country since Sunday night.
Modi also welcomed Germany’s support for India’s membership bid at the Multilateral Export Control Regime, and pledged closer cooperation in defense and counter-terrorism, noting that both countries will support the reforms of the UN Security Council.
The two leaders will hold wide-ranging talks tomorrow to significantly scale up bilateral relations in an array of key sectors with special focus on boosting trade, security and defence ties.
India and Germany have been strategic partners since 2011. “It makes even better business sense to Make in India”, the Prime Minister said.
India and Germany also signed an agreement to fast-track business approvals, providing German firms with a single point of contact to help them navigate a web of red tape that often thwarts initiative.
