German police briefly sealed off the Prime Ministry complex in Berlin Wednesday morning due to a suspicious package delivered by post, but bomb disposal experts later found no explosives.

The area was cordoned off at 8:30 a.m. (2:30 a.m. ET) Wednesday, federal police press spokesman Thorsten Peters told CNN.

Officers were waiting for specialists to inspect the package, he added.

The contents of four yellow postal boxes found at the main entrance to the chancellery have been examined.

The latest scare follows reports over the last few days that police officials have been tipped off about plans by militants from the Islamic State group to attack Munich.
