The Angels left Yankee Stadium, a place where they have now lost nine games in a row, lugging an ugly four-game sweep back across the country.

NY hit only one ball out on the infield before Parmelee’s single.

Ivan Nova (5-3) won his second straight start, allowing three runs and six hits in 6 1/3 innings. Dellin Betances retired two batters, Andrew Miller pitched a scoreless eighth and Chapman pitched a scoreless ninth, .

To this point in the season, the Yankees have relied on different combinations of two or three hitters to carry the load, but right now the club is getting solid performances from more than half of the lineup.

After Thursday night, Swisher went 1-for-4 for Class-AAA Scranton/Wilkes-Barre and was hitting.238 for the RailRiders with four home runs and 17 RBI in 42 games; he also has 44 strikeouts in that time as well and over his last 10 games, is hitting just.195.(8-for-41) with no homers and four RBI.

The Angels were once the Yankees’ kryptonite – the were the only American League team that had a winning record against them during the Joe Torre era – but since then have become their punching bag, especially in the Bronx. The Angels completed a 2-5 trip and dropped to 26-34, matching a season-worst eight games under.500.

The Yankees scored five runs in a fifth inning that saw them bring five men to the plate. A leadoff walk to Didi Gregorius was followed by Chris Parmelee’s tying, opposite-field single to left, Beltran’s hit, Alex Rodriguez’s sacrifice fly and Brian McCann’s RBI double. He went 3-for-5, hitting two homers and a double, while driving in three runs. Parmelee could not put any weight on the leg and had arms wrapped around the shoulders of Girardi and assistant athletic trainer Tim Lentych when he was helped back to the dugout.

Gregorio Petit was originally called safe at third base, advancing on Yunel Escobar’s single to center, in which Escobar advanced to second on Jacoby Ellsbury’s throw to third baseman Headley. Manager Mike Scioscia said he will play at least two games there before the Angels decide if he’s ready to return.

Angels: SS Andrelton Simmons (May 16 left thumb surgery) was to start an injury rehabilitation assignment Thursday at Triple-A Salt Lake.

“We put a lot of focus on the rotation and the bullpen the last month because of some of the guys that are out”, Manager Mike Scioscia said.
