An angler broke the world record of catching the heaviest fish on a rod – by catching a shark of 1247lbs.

According to the report, the man, Joel Abrahamsson, caught the beast on his kayak using a rod only while fishing off in Norway and managed to break the unofficial last record of 500lbs.
He said that he practiced a lot before performing the stunt as it could be dangerous for him.
He added that to give him more power during the stunt, he strapped himself into a harness that was attached to his rod, meaning if the shark had overpowered him, he could have been pulled into the freezing waters.
And at last, after 90 minutes of battle he won.
The shark was believed to be around 200 years old.
