Todd Frazier then took Duffy deep to left.
Kansas City’s Edinson Volquez gave up three runs and six hits in six innings. Let’s pick it up.’ You keep saying the same things over and over and suddenly it clicks. In the bottom of the 8th, they did just that.
Chien-Ming Wang (3-0) pitched two scoreless innings to claim the victory. He is 6-0 since his last loss on September 7, 2011, while with Atlanta. Wade Davis worked the ninth, striking out two, for his 13th save in 14 opportunities. Lorenzo Cain pushed a run home with a groundout.Paulo Orlando and Jarrod Dyson were intentionally walked to bring up Eibner, who was playing in only his second major league game. “There’s not much to say”, Frazier said.
“It’s got to be in the back of their minds: Here they come”, Royals manager Ned Yost said of Cain’s homer. Perhaps it’s still too soon to expect a change of that magnitude, but if the White Sox have serious designs on contending it’s one of the many considerations they’ll have to process sooner than later. “Just the number of quality at-bats we put together in the ninth inning”.
