Another George RR Martin tale could be coming to TV
The story, which was originally part of an anthology that included tales from horror masters Stephen King and Dan Simmons, follows a female private investigator named Randi Wade and her friend Willie Flambeaux who just happens to be, you guessed it, a werewolf.

According to Deadline, Mike the Pike Productions purchased the rights to the novel years ago and is developing the series along with Cinemax. Together they will find “a dark secret behind a series of grisly murders”, though we have a feeling the “dark secret” is werewolf-related. “Those of you who know the story of Doorways, my ill-fated ABC pilot from the early ’90s, may even recall that it was Skin Trade that I was actually trying to sell back in 1991, when I flew out to L.A. for a round of pitch meetings”. Cinemax and Martin have engaged “Nikita” and “Prison Break” writer Kalinda Vazquez for the job.
Martin joked that he would have “loved” to write the pilot and run the show himself but that he’s a little too busy these days.
The 67 year old author stated recently that he is interested to write the series but has a big task to finish a book, which is obviously indicated towards “Games of Thrones” from “A Song of Ice and Fire” series.
“Kalinda’s take on the story and the characters blew me away”, he wrote on his blog.
The Skin Trade won a World Fantasy Award for Best Novella in 1989.
The premium cable network has ordered a script of Martin’s werewolf noir novel The Skin Trade, the author announced Saturday.

If all goes well and Cinemax accepts the script, perhaps George R.R. Martin fans can hope for a reprinting of the stand-alone novella in the time before the series makes it to screen.
